"...How do I manage to get myself into these situations..." Lady panted suppressing the vomit threatening to surface; the odor her current kill was emitting too much to stomach. And it was only getting better. Duo colored eyes stared down and examined the mangled corpse of what she could only assume was a harpy like creature of some sort, if one could categorize it as such. Truth be told, she wasn't quite sure what it was but just like everything else she hunted it smelled awful; the sounds of postmortem gurgling and oozing filling the dark library she currently stood in. All she knew was that she was to retrieve a rare family heirloom from somewhere inside of the demon she had been hunting. That's right, as if dealing with the colossus being was not enough, it had somehow ingested her 'prize' and it was up to her to not only eliminate her target, but to thoroughly inspect it as well.
Almost as if on cue, to make matters worse no doubt, the corpse's head began to stir and bubble beneath the flesh."This is so fucked up..." Wide eyed Lady watched as a bulbous sack formed and slowly began to enlarge in disgust, taking a few precautionary steps back in case it ruptured, which it did not too long after; millions of spiders exiting the now empty sack and scattering through out the room. "Oh!! GROSS! I hate spiders!" The Huntress shouted firing a few rounds to keep the small arachnids away; ceasing her fire only when she was certain they were all dead.
Reluctantly her hand reached into the side of her boot; pulling out the combat knife safely tucked within so she could safely reach into the creatures skull and dig around. "Where the hell is Vergil when I need him..." A grimace was permanently plastered on her features and would most certainly remain there for quite some time, or at least, for as long as she had to keep her hand inside of this nightmare. For a brief moment, she swore she caught a whiff of his scent, an odd occurrence as it was hard to identify anything with one's nose over this creatures stench; for a human anyway. She supposed it wasn't all that odd, her clothes more than likely held remnants of his cologne and the man had spent quite some time in this area, it wouldn't be surprising to find that he had left his mark on this location. A library especially.

It wasn't the easiest thing to keep quiet while Lady had it out with the demon in the library, but then again, it was better than her finding out that Vergil had followed her. He couldn't help it; he knew she probably wouldn't appreciate being 'babied', and he really didn't have any desire to come back to this place... but the half devil had found himself feeling more and more protective of her lately. He told himself he would just follow from a distance and make sure she stayed in one piece. Lady would never even have to know that he was there.
When all was silent the devil decided he would chance a look inside the room, only to see the spiders explode from the corpse on the floor. Lady seemed less than thrilled, and he made a mental note that the woman did not like spiders. Though it was hard to stifle a chuckle as she blasted the little creatures away. It was a bit of overkill, but he supposed he couldn't blame her, they were disgusting looking. He didn't know the details of her mission, so Vergil watched curiously as she drew her blade and approached the dead demon on the floor. It wasn't the type of behavior one expected to see from a woman like her, so naturally he was curious.
Vergil nearly snorted in amusement when Lady muttered to himself about him not being there when she needed him. 'If only she knew,' the devil thought to himself as he shook his head. He decided to stay hidden for the moment though, not wanting to let her see him unless she had to. Vergil wasn't sure if it was because he didn't want to upset her, or if it was more than he was embarrassed for being such a 'worry wort' over letting her come here alone. Neither one seemed like all that great of an option, so it was best in his opinion to stay back.

After what felt like ages, but in reality had only been five minutes, far too long for her taste, Lady's knife made contact with something solid that was not scaly or made of bone; a sigh of relief escaping her lips as it did so. Surely this had to be her clients family heirloom. "Finally." Careful not to push-- or lose-- it within the creatures innards any further she extracted this mystery heirloom with great care, eager to see what her hard efforts had been for, in person, with her own eyes. When she agreed to take this job the owner had only described the demon and shared a few, but rather vague, details concerning the item; the color and shape along with the initials inscribed on the back. No picture, replica or anything, for all she knew this wasn't the correct treasure to begin with but she would soon to find out.
"What is this?" Lady's eyes fell upon the large pendant attached to a chain now in her hand, "An amulet of some sort? Huh." It was hard to inspect anything with the current condition this piece of jewelery was in, covered in lord knows what and wreaking of death and vomit. Rummaging in her ammo bag she found a loose piece of cloth to wipe it down with; along with her knife before she tucked it away in her boot once more. The color was just as described and as she turned it over in search of the initials, which she quickly discovered near the bottom, she took note of the strange markings covering every available inch of the amulet's surface; peculiar and yet oddly familiar.
"I can't believe I just did that.." But a paying job was a job and Lady was not one to turn down easy money, no matter how disgusting. Despite her negative history with this particular location she supposed it wasn't all that bad. This being near the place where her fondness for her Dark Knight blossomed after all, and for that she was thankful. 'While I'm here... I might as well have a look around.' Honestly, how often did she get to snoop around an ancient library? Perhaps these books contained some useful information concerning this new sub-category of demons, like their biggest weaknesses for example.

Vergil had to admit, he felt almost bad for Lady as she was forced to 'dig' for her treasure. He didn't know the details of her job, but this certainly had to be the worst of it. At least, that's what he hoped, for she would surely come home in a foul mood if there was more to come. Even the devil, with his own extensive stay in Hell, did not envy her for having to root around in some creatures guts for anything.
The half demon watched in silence as Lady seemed to locate whatever it was she was looking for and pulled it out. It was some sort of jewelry, and he wasn't sure why, but he didn't like the looks of it. Lady seemed satisfied that it was what she was here to retrieve, though, so as long as it didn't suddenly spring to life and attack her he supposed it was alright. Vergil nearly chuckled at her statement, silently agreeing that he couldn't believe it either.
As he watched her, Vergil decided that he would probably need to start finding something useful to do with himself to help Lady with finances. After all, he was pretty much freeloading in her house, and things with Dante were tentative at best. Perhaps when he got back he would start actively looking for something that could put his skills to use, since there were only so many demons out and about at any given time for jobs.
Vergil watched Lady some more, eyebrows raising in surprise when she didn't turn to leave immediately. She seemed to find some interest in her surroundings, and that in turn interested him. Letting his curiosity get the better of him, Vergil crept out from where he was, keeping as silent as possible so maybe he could see what she was up to.
